“Ella is an incredibly detailed and knowledgeable teacher of her craft but what I enjoyed most about her guidance is her perfect balance between a world-class athlete type strictness that pushes you safely to your limit, complimented by the most compassionate, sensitive, funny beings I’ve come across. "I’m glad I stepped into Ella’s class!I’m a professional dancer and yoga teacher. Because of Ella’s gymnastics background she understand how our body works with an extra layer than other yoga teachers I have encountered! My alignment got much better since I started taking her classes due to the  precise correction she gives her students! As a dancer, I love to be challenged physically and with her teaching you won’t be disappointed! Not only does she challenge you, she teaches the importance of the Yin side of the practice.  I feel like I fully understand the importance of it. She is the whole package!"  @MariaWada

"As a former collegiate athlete I have high expectations of my workouts, so I love Ella's flow and strength classes.  Her explanations help me to continually improve my technique in ways I haven't experienced in other online (or even in person) classes. She gives just the right amount of explanation so I know how to do things correctly, but she's not talking the whole time.  Through her teaching, I've also learned the value of incorporating Yin into my practice.  While I don't do it as often as I'd like, I've loved every one of Ella's yins that I tried, and wish I had these available to me when I was still a track athlete.  Now that I'm a mom of two active little boys I don't have a lot of time to get out of the house for workouts, but the quick flows allow me to still reach my goal of doing at least one yoga session per week, even if it's just a 15 minute core strengthening class!  And on the rare opportunities that I have more than 40 minutes to practice I appreciate that I have many options to choose from for all different types of classes and lengths of time." purebodyfitness.net

"I have been using Ella's online classes for over a year now.  The quality of instruction is extraordinary.  The range is very wide - from full size classes for advanced Asana practitioners to short Yin sequences to increase any student's flexibility.  While Ella's Asana practice is extremely advanced, you can find classes for all levels.  Her attention to alignment is  borderline  obsessive which is, in my mind, of ultimate importance.  Her attitude is gentle and nurturing. I highly recommend her classes, my practice improved greatly since I started using her website." @AlexanderKsendzov

Ella is a singular teacher who brings all of herself to her students, her study of yoga, and her deep commitment to using breath and movement for powerful self-work, on and off the mat. I have been taking her class for close to a decade and there is simply no other teacher like her. Her classes are challenging, and great for people who want to grow their yoga practice and push themselves to the edge of their comfort zones. But her classes are also incredibly thoughtful, restorative, and healing. She teaches her students how to have a strong practice without being led by ego, as well as how to listen to their own bodies to understand when the strongest thing we can do is pull back. She's also incredibly funny, vulnerable, deep and honest in her teaching, and her no holds barred approach to the practice (and to life) encourages her students to go deeper in turn. Simply put, Ella is one of the most inspiring teachers I've ever encountered. Thank you Ella, for everything you bring to each and every class you teach. The LA yoga community is incredibly lucky to have you. @marisskate

"Ella was a turning point in my life. I’ve never met anyone with so much skill and and energy.
I’ve practiced every day since Ella’s Teacher Training, 2 hours a day at least. The sequences Ella came up with were amazing to me. Before Ella I had I only practiced Ashtanga. When I walked into Forward Fold It was astounding. The best thing she left me with, is the courage to create and innovate . Today I practice an Ashtanga based sequence and mix it up with new creative ideas. The Traditional Yoga and the Innovative. Her influence is in my every day practice, and I aspire to her example, but in my own way. P.S As far as I know, Ella is still not a fan of Ashtanga, but if I had her skills and amazing sequences I’d keep rocking a good thing and keep building it. Her gift has definitely changed this life. She gives the example of what can be, a living example what we Yogis Aspire to."

"Sometimes I wish YogaWorks's description of Ella's class would go something like this; "Eastern Bloc, Communist Flow with a dash of Yin, interspersed with tales of the teacher's personal life and trials, all delivered in the peppery language of a Romanian, Olympic gymnast." It would sure be more truthful than what they have now, and save everybody a lot of time.  Ella's class is Ella. It is so unique from all the other yoga fare in LA, because Ella is so different from all the other teachers in LA.. Not to say there are no other really good teachers in LA, there are, it's just that none are like Ella. Granted, she is not for everyone, but if she is your type, and you attend her class consistently, for a good period of time, you will eventually look back and say, "I can't believe what I'm able to do now in Yoga class!" In addition to that, if you are drawn in more deeply into her constantly running dialogue, you will notice a spiritual change also, and look back and say, "Wow, I can't believe how much my life has changed in the last year!"  Of course this has all happened to me, which is why I am forever grateful to have found Ella, and that I count her as a true friend, which is no easy thing in LA these days. Ella puts a lot of energy into building community, which is so important these days, and which yoga is good at doing. Physically, Ella seems to have been created to practice yoga. She is a yoga thoroughbred. All muscle, tall, flexible, she amazes classes with her demonstrations(a warning here: never clap after a demonstration unless you want to be reprimanded). Her teaching style reflects her gymnastic background, so it is challenging, but safe. I have NEVER been injured in her class, and I have been with her for nine years. There is ample time for warm up, a brisk flow, building to plenty of inversions and other poses which will challenge you. There is a running dialogue, with the breath emphasized repeatedly, interspersed with tales from her childhood, gymnastic career, personal life, etc.. She is an open book, which I find endearing, but which may scare off some. Every class is different. Like the teacher, who is constantly changing, her class constantly changes. When she has had a bad day, be prepared to sweat. When the traffic is light, and no-one has cut her off on the way to class, expect a bit more Yin than usual. Ella makes a point to get to know individual names, and address students personally during class, which helps new students feel welcome, and builds community. She pushes you, but never past your limit. As for myself, I am old enough to have fathered most of the other students in class, but Ella never gives me a break because of my age, and treats me like all the rest of the class, which I appreciate.  All I can say, is that at 64, I am doing things that very few of my contemporaries would even contemplate, and that my personal life has been awakened, and I am on a completely different course I could never have imagined nine years ago, all thanks to Ella. She has provided a safe space for me to do what I love, which is about all you can ask for. So beware, taking Ella's class could put you on a path that you had no idea going down. I'm glad I did, and am forever indebted to her."

"Ella's yoga classes helped me reconnect my mind and body when I was just starting my battle against PTSD. Now that my mind-body connection is disrupted by more mundane things... I still find so much comfort and physical pain relief from her classes! If I ever get offered an amazing job in LA, I'll be sure to find an apartment somewhere close to Forward Fold Yoga so I can learn from Ella herself again! For now, I'm pretty obsessed with her new(ish) website, where you can take her classes for FREE, or subscribe for even more options. Enjoy!"

"I have 4 criteria after I take a yoga class. A teacher only needs to have one yes to the following questions for me to return to their class. They are: Did I learn something (anything! even taught a basic concept to me)? Did I feel seen? Did I have fun? Is the teacher being authentically themselves? I continue to return to Ella's classes whenever I can because she meets all four criteria within every class (which I find rare!) She is fiercely passionate about the subject matter she is teaching (both vinyasa and yin) and each of her students, she takes no shit from anyone, and has a great sense of humor. And loves ice cream too. I feel lucky to be able to learn from her." @ej_merlin
